The paediatric asthma service is made up of a team of specialist nurses and the clinical lead for asthma. We provide care to children and their families.
Children may be referred into the service for the following:
- Children will be given a one-off review appointment following time in hospital because of their asthma.
- Children who are under the care of a paediatrician for their asthma may be referred.
When you are referred, you will be seen in one of our specialist nurse-led clinics.
We will review how your child’s asthma is by:
- Talking about any hospital admissions or attendances
- Talking about relevant medical history
- Talking about triggers for their asthma
- Talking about current medication
- Reviewing inhaler techniques
- Completing an asthma action plan
- Carrying out lung function and skin prick tests
We are based at North Tyneside General Hospital. We also hold clinics at Wansbeck General Hospital.
