Our allergy service consists of consultants, associate specialist doctors, allergy nurse and dietitians.
Clinics take place at North Tyneside General Hospital and Wansbeck General Hospital. We offer food challenges at North Tyneside General Hospital as well as some low risk drug challenges mainly to antibiotics.
We see children and young people with a range of allergic conditions including food allergy and anaphylaxis, eczema, asthma and hay fever (allergic rhinitis), recurrent hives (urticaria) and swelling (angioedema).
Our allergy service is part of the Northern Paediatric Allergy Group working together with other hospitals in the region. For certain more complex allergic conditions there is an agreement that children and young people are referred to the tertiary service in Newcastle.
