Our gynae oncology clinical nurse specialists (CNS) are senior nurses. They are experts in cancers of the female reproductive system.

This includes cancers affecting your:

  • ovaries
  • cervix
  • uterus (womb)
  • vulva
  • vagina

Your CNS is a key member of your care team. They will support you from diagnosis, through treatment, and into follow-up care.

Your CNS will:

  • Be your key worker and main point of contact during your cancer care
  • Provide clear information about your:
    • diagnosis
    • tests
    • treatment options
  • Support you in making decisions about your care
  • Help you cope with the impact of a cancer diagnosis
  • Help manage symptoms and side effects of treatment
  • Coordinate your care with doctors and other healthcare professionals
  • Act as your advocate, ensuring we consider your needs and preferences
  • Provide information on practical support, like:
    • financial advice
    • wellbeing services
    • support groups

Your CNS works closely with your cancer team. This includes consultants, surgeons, radiologists, and other specialists, as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT). They help ensure your care is well-coordinated and tailored to your needs.

They may also be there during appointments. They may be available after your appointments if you have questions.

You can contact your CNS if you:

  • Have questions about diagnosis or treatment
