Dozens of Northumbria Healthcare staff take on Kielder Marathon events

Congratulations are in order after almost 90 members of staff at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust took part in this year’s Kielder Marathon events.

As part of ongoing efforts to support health and wellbeing, places were provided to 87 team members from across the Trust, who joined the 2,500 competitors taking part as ‘Britain’s most beautiful marathon’ returned after a year off.

It meant that the yellow tops of the Trust’s charity Bright Northumbria were in evidence at Northumbrian Water’s Landal Kielder Waterside park, against the backdrop of the stunning Kielder Reservoir.

The weekend, which features a 10k, Run Bike Run, Half Marathon and Marathon, is delivered by Events of the North in conjunction with Northumbrian Water, Active Northumberland, Northumberland County Council and Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, with Bright being the main charity partner.

Claire Riley, the Trust’s executive director of communications and corporate affairs, said: “It has been another fantastic year for the events here at Kielder, it’s great to see so many participants getting involved.

“I would just like to take the opportunity to say a huge thank-you to all of our partners and especially to the volunteers who make the whole thing possible. We are incredibly grateful for all of the money raised for our Bright charity which will go on to benefit our staff and our patients.”
