SAS Week 2025 - Mr Ali Alhamdi (specialist in plastic surgery)

Today's theme - Equalities and the Medical Workforce Race Equality Standard (MWRES)

Mr Ali AlhamdiI’m medically qualified since 2003. My career began in Iraq, where I provided medical care in active conflict zones for a decade. During this time, I also volunteered with Operation Smile and Smile Train Italy, further solidifying my commitment to patient care.

After relocating to the UK, I pursued surgical training in plastic surgery, earning an MSc in Burns, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery from University College London, and MRCS from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. I also completed an MBA at the London School of Commerce, blending clinical excellence with strategic leadership.

I have worked at several prominent NHS trusts, including St. Andrew’s Centre for Burns, East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, and the Royal Free Hospital, among others. My expertise lies in skin surgery, hand trauma, lower limb reconstruction, and abdominal and perineal reconstruction.

Passionate about both clinical practice and surgical education, I actively contribute to the development of future doctors and surgeons through undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
