SAS Week 2025 - Miss Susanne Reinoehl (specialty doctor in general surgery & SAS advocate)

Today's theme - SAS advocate role and SAS wellbeing

Miss Susanne ReinoehlI graduated in Germany in 2001 and lived in the UK since 2022, having gained MRCS (Membership of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons) in 2005.

After a stint in Africa and with new family, I worked LED (locally employed doctor) jobs until I fell into SAS. The career development and support on this contract meant I could develop my own niches of work. I am now an endoscopist and endo trainer with interest in polyps as well as clinical lead for the treatment room-based lumps and bumps and temporal artery biopsy services with plans to extend these.

I spent 10 years in education before my non-clinical interest shifted to representing the wider SAS for the BMA where I am involved nationally as the chair of the Northern Region. I am still the local LNC (Local Negotiating Committee) rep and hold the position of SAS advocate.
