SAS Week 2025 - Dr Muhammad Ilyas Saleem (specialist paediatrician)

Today's theme - Specialist grade

My additional portfolio is that of senior clinical lecturer in the University of Sunderland since 2021. I have been a paediatrician for more than 3 decades spanning across Pakistan and the UK, with 25 years of service to the NHS.

This year I took partial retirement, but I am still active in the field of paediatrics and specifically in paediatric diabetes. I enjoy teaching medical students and hence I have kept that role intact despite dropping my hours.

I am actively involved in research and publications. I have several publications in leading journals. I have been invited to write a review in the special issue of the prestigious journal, Nutrients, about the role of diet in diabetes in children.
