Meet the team in Berwick - Emily Douglas

Emily Douglas.jpgWhen did you start working at Berwick Infirmary?

I haven't started at Berwick yet, but I have been working at NSECH since the end of April 2025. However, I am really looking forward to coming into Berwick and meeting all the staff and letting them know what we will be offering in the near future when the new hospital opens.

Brief career history?

I have been working in the fitness and leisure industry since the start of 2022. I started off working in the local gym alongside my degree in BSc Physical Activity, Exercise and Health where I graduated in 2023. Since then I have been working in the local leisure centre in the gym, teaching classes and working on health and wellbeing initiatives. I have also been expanding my knowledge in the fitness industry getting extra qualifications enabling me to help more people.

Why were you passionate about applying for your role?

I just love helping people to reach their goals, helping those to help transform their lives and seeing others getting the benefits out of exercise. I think the offer available for the staff is amazing and I am so happy I am part of the team now to help deliver it.

How do you think the new hospital and facilities will support your role?

The new hospital will allow me to carry out my role fully, I will be based up at Berwick. Giving gym inductions, available to be bookable for PT and hopefully some classes too. Being able to offer this to the staff at Berwick will definitely benefit them and I really can't wait to start working with them. They will get access to the new equipment and be able to use it around physio hours.

Where were you born, where do you live and what do you do to relax?

I was born in Ashington and have lived just outside Berwick all my life. To relax I enjoy weight training at the gym and going on walks with my dog.
