How our Recyle you Cycle scheme is benefitting our staff and their families’

We launched our Recycle your Cycle scheme last December and it’s already benefitted lots of staff, their families, and even our local community.

HR manager, Jaclyn Armstrong recently used the scheme, and here’s what she had to say about it:

“So, I had been thinking about getting a bike for some time – more so over the last year or so. However, I don’t have the best track record when it comes to committing to exercise therefore not only have bikes been hard to find over the last year, I was also nervous about making the wrong decision.

“I saw the staff wellbeing post on the trust Facebook page on 23 April which summarised my current situation perfectly – the post was about the Recycle your Cycle scheme and was exactly what I needed. The next day I went to the Bike4Health workshop in Benton (which was really easy to find) and I explained what I was looking for. I was shown a number of bikes suitable for my size, need and requirements and I narrowed this down to 2 bikes. I was allowed to test drive the bikes outside and this helped me to identify the best and most comfortable bike for me.

“The pricing guide was explained to me and I was given as much time as I needed and I decided to go for it. The assistant could not have been more helpful. I was able to take the bike away with me straight away and I was also given a receipt to show what remedial work had previously been carried out on the bike.

“Whilst I am a busy working Mam of 2 extremely active kids – I can honestly say that I have found time to use my bike every weekend. I am no longer the only member of my family not to have a bike!

“I can’t recommend this scheme highly enough and I am really grateful for the opportunity that working from the trust has given me.”
