Advanced Critical Care Practitioner Jenny Graham shares what she loves about her role on International Nurses Day

Hello, my name is Jenny and I have been a qualified nurse for 15 years.

I love working for Northumbria Healthcare because of the support and encouragement they have given me throughout the 22 years I’ve been employed with them.

I am fortunate to have progressed through my nursing career, starting as a Health Care Assistant, to Staff Nurse, Sister and am now an Advanced Critical Care Practitioner in a specialist area I love within Critical Care at NSECH.

Nursing is a privileged role whereby families place their trust in us implicitly to care and advocate for their loved ones in their most vulnerable moments.

I can’t think of a more special career or environment I’d choose to work in.

I have created some very special friends and colleagues along my journey, some of whom are now lifelong.

I reflect on memories of patients and families I’ve had the pleasure meeting, caring for and supporting through their most difficult moments of their lives.

I feel honoured to be a nurse and honoured to be part of the team I am part of.
