With 24 years of service under his NHS Belt, Kris tells us what he loves about his role on International Nurses Day

Hi, my name is Kris Mole and I have 24 years NHS service, 20 of which I have been qualified.

I began my career those 24 years ago as a healthcare Assistant and very quickly decided to do my nurse training as I saw instantly the difference they can make day to day.

Since qualification I have worked in a variety of roles from staff nurse to charge nurse, and now I work as the lead advanced nurse practitioner for the frailty assessment service.

I became a nurse as I have always enjoyed working with people, and following a work experience placement when I was at school, I knew this was something I wanted to pursue.

Nursing can be extremely stressful and heavy at times, however the job satisfaction in knowing that I have directly impacted on a patient’s care and their hospital experience totally out weighs these stresses. There is nothing better than a patient who cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for them!

I currently work in care of the elderly/frailty team, and a lot of my patients cannot make decisions about their care due to their physical frailty or cognitive impairment. I am in the privileged position to act as their advocate and ensure they receive the best possible care, in the correct environment to meet their ongoing care needs.

I am proud to lead a group of practitioners delivering these services and making a positive difference to all that we come into contact with.
