Sarat has spent 25 years in the technology industry. In 2007 he co-founded hedgehog lab, a Newcastle-based digital product consultancy, and led it as chief executive for 19 years. During that time the business grew from two people to around 150, worked with clients globally ranging from early-stage start-ups to FTSE 100 companies, and raised three rounds of private equity investment. He stepped down as chief executive in December 2025.
Today Sarat works as an advisor and mentor to founders and entrepreneurs across the technology sector. He is passionate about technology's power to improve health outcomes when used responsibly, and about building psychologically safe workplaces where people can do their best work. He speaks regularly on podcasts, at industry events and in the media about conscious leadership.
