We have a full range of options available, such as our groups and courses, an online therapy programme called Silvercloud, self-help (telephone and face to face), one to one and group therapy, and counselling.
Everyone will receive one of the following treatments:
- Groups and courses
We offer a wide range of psychological and educational groups and courses to help with a number of common difficulties.
Engaging in groups and courses will help you to:
- Learn more about common symptoms and how they affect you.
- Learn effective coping strategies to help to improve your wellbeing.
- Cope better with any future difficulties and be well prepared for any future treatment.
All of our courses are delivered by qualified therapists. They are run like a lecture so there is no pressure to contribute or discuss your difficulties with the rest of the group. We offer groups and courses at a range of locations across North Tyneside. They are free of charge to anybody over the age of 16 registered with a North Tyneside GP.
We will need to understand your current difficulties and register you for a session at your preferred venue. See our Get help section for details of how to register and our groups and course directory to find out what’s available.
What to expect
Typically you will be expected to participate in group therapy, share experiences with other members and try tasks outside of the group to discuss in future sessions. There are between 4 to 8 sessions for each group and each session usually last two hours.
- Online therapy
Our online cognitive behavioural therapy programme is called Silivercloud. You can use it on your computer, tablet or mobile phone.
The idea of this programme is that you can work at your own pace, with regular reviews from your therapist who can help to guide and motivate you through the programme. It consists of evidence based techniques based on CBT which are recognised to have a positive impact on low mood and anxiety.
Silvercloud is available 24-7 in your own time, at your own pace, and is very flexible and easy to use – however we will always be there to support you if you need us. It is tailored to your needs and aims to help by providing information as well as tools and activities to help improve low mood and anxiety including video clips, interactive quizzes, a journal and audio guided exercises
How do I access Silvercloud?
You will be given a log in to access Silvercloud and also allocated a therapist who will support and guide you through your individual care package.
On some occasions we may also offer Silvercloud as an unsupported package of care whilst you wait to start therapy, if we think this would help you prior to commencing therapy.

After an initial face to face appointment, the practitioner will provide you with some workbooks that teach skills and techniques to improve your mood.
Regular calls from the practitioner will allow you to discuss what you’ve been learning, help you set goals and keep track of your progress.
