We are here to help and support you as much as possible while you are dealing with incontinence.
We do assessments for adults who are experiencing bladder or bowel problems.
We also run a home delivery service which provides continence products direct to your home. You can be referred to the service by your GP or a district nurse.
If you require advice or help from a trained nurse or specialist you can receive this service in your own home if you are housebound, in a care home or within a clinic or GP surgery.
You can be referred to the service by your GP or district nurse.
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust no longer provide pads for light bladder leaks. First small pads (like ID light normal and light extra) will stop. Then slightly larger pads (like ID light maxi).
Pads for heavy bladder leaks will still be provided.
What this means for you
You will need to buy light pads yourself. You can buy these at local supermarkets, pharmacies and online shops (e.g. Allaboutincontinence.com, Ageukincontinence.co.uk and Incontinencechoice.co.uk).
Top tips
- Own brands are often cheaper and made by the same manufacturer as well-known brands.
- Absorbency ratings can be misleading as they show the max capacity not what the pad holds during normal use.

Our continence team can answer any questions you have. They can give advice on better bladder health and discuss lifestyle changes and treatment options to reduce your need for pads.
