Roadworks on the A19 - potential impact on patient journeys

Patients are being advised of resurfacing work taking place on the A19, which may impact on journeys to and from our Northumbria hospital in Cramlington.

National Highways has announced it is going to reconstruct and resurface the A19 between Moor Farm roundabout and Killingworth junction.

The project is expected to start on Monday, July 3. Work will be carried out during the night between 8pm and 6am from Sunday to Friday and should be complete by winter 2023.

The work will be done in phases, one side at a time, with a 40mph speed limit in place for safety and one lane will remain closed during the day.

Access will be maintained at all times to businesses and properties.

You can find out more about this scheme at https://nationalhighways.co.uk/our-roads/yorkshire-and-north-east. Contact National Highways on 0300 123 5000 or info@nationalhighways.co.uk

Patients coming to the Northumbria hospital are advised to leave more time for their travel to appointments. The work may also affect journeys to North Tyneside General Hospital for those coming from further afield.
