Let us know your memories and stories of Hexham and Wansbeck General Hospital

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is due to celebrate two big milestones this summer.

Tuesday June 6, 2023, marks the 30th anniversary of Wansbeck General Hospital in Ashington and Monday 10 July marks the 20th anniversary of the opening of Hexham General Hospital.

These milestones also fall during the year when the whole NHS is celebrating its 75th birthday also in July.

Wansbeck General Hospital opened in June 1993 and is also the home the of state-of-the-art simulation hub, DASH, for medical training and education. This hub uses a three-walled set-up to create scenarios that immerse learners in a range of realistic environments.

Hexham General Hospital has seen many achievements over the years including the opening of a state-of-the-art scanner for key diagnostic scans.

Both hospitals being great examples of how the trust has advanced its use of technology to improve patient care over three decades.

The trust plans to hold celebration events at the hospital sites with current and former members of staff to reflect on the care provided to tens of thousands of patients over the years.
