To celebrate International Nurses Day 2023 our clinical educator, Lee Ranyard-Lant tells us more about his role and some of his greatest achievements throughout his nursing career.

“My professional background in Nursing has been mainly focused on Community Nursing, where I have worked for over 20 years. My journey as a nurse began as a Community Staff Nurse and as I developed my knowledge, skills and experience I moved into other specialist roles before undertaking further formal study to become a District Nurse and Practice Teacher.

I have recently been seconded to the NMAHP Education and Development team as a specialist clinical educator. My role is focused on developing and supporting the education of nurses and allied health professionals who are working at enhanced and advanced levels of practice. This involves looking at the education needs to help clinicians progress in their role, as well as exploring how the organisation can provide on-going support to practitioners.

My learning and development has continued to progress during my career and my most recent clinical role (before starting secondment) was as a Nurse Practitioner in the CARE Point team.

One of the greatest achievements of my career was being awarded the title ‘Queen’s Nurse’. This is an honorary title that is awarded to nurses who can demonstrate that they promote the highest standards of patient care in the community. This meant a lot to me as I take a lot of pride in what I do.”
