Learning Disability Week - Jude
I am a Senior Community Nurse and non-medical prescriber.
Being a non-medical prescriber in learning disability practice involves specialised training and expertise in both prescribing and a knowledge of the unique needs of people with learning disabilities.
As a non-medical prescriber I work within a framework of regulations and policies, ensuring safe and effective prescribing practices which are tailored to the specific needs of our patients.
The aim of my role within the STOMP (Stopping the over-medication of people with a Learning Disability) team is to follow our commitment to the STOMP agenda which focuses on optimising the use of medicines and reducing harmful side effects.
As a nurse I am able to shape my practice, develop future intervention and ensure clinical consultations are inclusive and meaningful for the patients I support.
