Wansbeck General Hospital urgent care centre – statement
Our urgent care centre at Wansbeck General Hospital will close at 10pm tonight (14 Feb) and re-open at 8am tomorrow morning.
What follows is a statement from our executive medical director Dr Jeremy Rushmer on the matter:
“At peak times – particularly when winter pressures are in full swing like now – we encounter short term staffing challenges and sometimes need to re-allocate them accordingly. We do this to ensure the best possible care continues to be provided across the trust. These decisions are kept under constant review and are reassessed daily. All of our staff are working flat out and we aim to return to a normal service as quickly as possible.
“Make no mistake the NHS will always be here for you if you need it. Either through 111, community services, our other hospitals or – if you are in immediate need of critical care – A&E; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”
