Urgent talks to be held over hospital parking
After listening to the views of local people, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is holding urgent talks with the company which provides parking management at its general hospitals in Northumberland and North Tyneside.
Since the new Parking Eye system was introduced at Wansbeck, Hexham and North Tyneside general hospitals last year, patients and visitors have raised a number of issues to the trust.
A spokesperson for the trust said: “The trust has listened to, and is concerned by, the many issues raised by patients and families, since the Parking Eye system was installed.
“As a result, we are entering into urgent discussions with Parking Eye Ltd to find a way of addressing these concerns and preventing any recurrence of the issues which have been reported to us.”
Steven Bannister, director of estates and facilities at the trust, added: “We are recognised nationally for listening to the views of patients and visitors and acting on their feedback – this is a prime example of us doing just that.”
Patients and visitors should continue to pay for parking using the existing system.
