This is our commitment to improve the dignified, compassionate and safe care we provide for our elderly patients.

Shared purpose has improved the compassionate, dignified and respectful care delivered to our elderly, frail patients.

This has focussed on improving the recruitment and training of staff, improving the patient environment by ensuring our wards are elder friendly, and improving the patient experience.

There have been many key achievements. We have developed and implemented values-based recruitment, with over 800 employees now recruited in this way. Messages about dignity and trust values are now embedded in the induction process, and focussed training is helping to create staff who have confidence and understanding to care for people living with dementia. We have employed nutrition assistants on some wards, leading to increased nutrition and socialisation for patients.

More of our patients than ever report that they are always treated with respect and dignity.
