Public invited to NHS drop-in sessions in Berwick

The second of monthly NHS drop-in sessions in Berwick takes place next week.

The session, run by Linda Pepper, public governor at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, is on Wednesday 2 October at Berwick Library from 10am until noon. Future sessions will take place on the first Wednesday of each month.

Local people are encouraged to come along and ask any questions about services at Berwick Infirmary and the care which is delivered in the community by Northumbria Healthcare.

People will be able to hear about the Trust’s plans for a new hospital in Berwick and learn more about the new Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital – the first hospital of its kind in England – which is set to open in Northumberland in 2015.

People will also be encouraged to give informal feedback about their recent experiences of care and any ideas for future local services which Linda will feedback through her formal role as governor with Northumbria Healthcare.

Linda said: “The first session at the beginning of September was a success with local people attending to talk to me about their experiences of healthcare locally which I fed back to the Trust. I was also able to signpost people to other services where appropriate.

“I would encourage people to come along to the next one or to future sessions which will be held on the first Wednesday of every month.”

Members of the public will also be able to become a member of Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust to receive more information regarding future engagement opportunities and local events hosted.
