Mr Tim Petheram
Consultant orthopaedic surgeon
Mr Petheram specialises in hip and knee replacement both complex and routine, and revision (redo) hip and knee replacement.
Mr Petheram has a particular interest in hip and knee replacement and revision, and completed a year of specialist fellowship in the world famous Exeter Hip Unit during which time he gained further expertise in hip replacement surgery.
After training as a doctor in Bristol, he completed his junior surgical training in Australia, Exeter and London, before carrying out orthopaedic training in the North East.
He has been a consultant with the trust since 2014, based in North Cumbria up until 2017 before returning to the North East. In Cumbria he led a project on safety in the trust and led the department as clinical director for a period.
With a keen interest in educating future surgeons, he teaches training and consultant surgeons on hip replacement techniques in the UK and Europe, and chairs such a course for surgeons in the North of England.
He has published several academic papers on hip and knee replacement surgery, written book chapters for texts on hip replacement and presented at national and international meetings on the subject.
Mr Petheram sees patients in North Tyneside Hospital, and holds some clinics in Hexham and Wansbeck.
