Mr Ata Kasis
Mr Kasis specialises in degenerative spine disease and spinal surgery and has a special interest in treating lower back pain in young adults.
He trained in surgery in St Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals in London before obtaining a research master’s degree in orthopaedics at the University of Sheffield. He completed his higher surgical training in orthopaedics in Newcastle and went on to complete a spinal fellowship in Australia’s Gold Coast Spine Unit.
Mr Kasis is a fellowship trained surgeon in anterior approach to the lumbar spine for the treatment of deformities, lumbar spine fusion and total lumbar disc replacement. Mr Kasis uses the most advanced treatments to match the patient’s condition with the most appropriate technology available.
He lectures in international spinal conferences on the outcome of anterior lumbar fusion.
Mr Kasis is affiliated with many professional organisations in the UK including being a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and physicians in Glasgow and a member of the British Spine Society. He also has international interests and is a member of both the North American Spine Society and the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISSAS).
Dr Kasis sees patients at Wansbeck and Hexham general hospitals.
