Dr Colin Doig
Colin qualified from Glasgow in 1983 and did most of my Cardiology training in Newcastle. He spent a year at Toronto General Hospital looking at heart rhythm disorders.
Colin looks after the broad range of cardiological conditions – atrial fibrillation, angina and heart attacks, heart failure, palpitations, valve disease, high blood pressure – and was for 20 years, an interventional cardiologist (performing angioplasty and stenting).
Colin participates in the trust’s acute medical on call rota and is fully accredited in general (internal) medicine. He is also the lead clinician for general (internal) medicine for the Northern region, and sits on the national Specialist Advisory Committee for General (Internal) Medicine. He has recently been appointed to a national steering subgroup of Resuscitation Council (UK).
Colin is business unit director for our Clinical Support and Cancer Services Business Unit which includes our laboratory services, radiology department and cancer care both in this trust and in North Cumbria.
Colin holds clinics on Mondays alternating between North Tyneside General Hospital and Sir GB Hunter outpatient department in Wallsend. On Friday’s he holds clinics alternative weeks at North Tyneside hospital.
