Panto stars visit children at North Tyneside hospital

Children at North Tyneside General Hospital were given a swashbuckling Christmas treat today when pantomime stars brought a piece of Neverland to them.

Characters from the Playhouse Whitley Bay’s production of Peter Pan delighted young patients on the Children’s Ward as part of festive celebrations at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Peter Pan, Wendy and Smee took time out of their busy schedule entertaining families to spread festive cheer.

Carole Clayton, ward manager on the Children’s Ward, said: “The patients on the ward really enjoyed meeting the characters from Peter Pan and we’re really grateful that they took the time to come to the hospital.

“Being in hospital at this time of year can be difficult for anyone, particularly children and meeting the characters from Peter Pan was a fantastic treat just a couple of days before Christmas.”

Peter Pan, starring CBeebies favourite Sarah-Jane Honeywell, Neighbours legend Mark Little and North East comic Steve Walls, is showing until Sunday 5 January 2014.  For more info visit www.playhousewhitleybay.co.uk.
