What to Expect

You will be seen by a specially trained nurse or practitioner who are experienced in managing this sensitive work. You can refer yourself either by telephoning or walking in. If you telephone early in the day we should be able to offer you a slot for the same day. Or alternatively you can book an appointment for a specific day and time.

Our two main sexual health centres

Both centres have disabled access including disabled parking and hearing loops. You can also request an interpreter when you book an appointment.

When you first arrive at one of our centres you will be asked to complete a registration form. For clinics at the One to One Centre you can also complete the registration form when you book online.

For further information about the services available in Northumberland and North Tyneside go to our where to find us page.

If you need to cancel your appointment or if you are unable to attend we would appreciate you letting us know in advance as there is a high demand for this service.  You can cancel an appointment by calling us. For North Tyneside clinics you can also cancel appointments via our online booking system.

Your records

We record all your information on a highly confidential electronic clinical system, which is not joined with any other hospital or GP record.

Keeping healthcare records are important as they help to:

  • record important medical history
  • help health professionals give you the appropriate care management
  • improve the services provided to you

Any tests taken will only have a reference attached so we can identify your results and not your name.

If you would like to know more about how we look after and use data, or if you would like to know how to access your data visit NHS England.
