Get Active Northumberland (GAN) programme
The Get Active Northumberland (GAN) programme supports parents, children and young people who are concerned about their weight. This free programme offers information and advice from NHS health professionals through a range of fun activities. It offers a range of specific programmes across Northumberland for parents with children under 5, families with children aged 7-13 and teenagers.

Healthy 4 Life
Healthy 4 Life is a free family healthy lifestyle programme to help children and families in North Tyneside make positive lifestyle changes to achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
It offers a fun, friendly service for children aged five years to 17 years, running free 10-week healthy lifestyle programmes at local schools, leisure centres and swimming pools, providing personalised, specific advice for children and families.

Lighten Up adult weight management programme
The Lighten Up programme in North Tyneside aims to help you lose weight and achieve a healthy lifestyle by looking at what you eat, how active you are and what you can change to make a difference. This is a free 12 week programme which includes:
- Introduction to weight management groups held at your local leisure or community centre
- Group activities led by a dietician and a psychologist to look at what you eat and how you can make different choices
- The opportunity to join a structured exercise session
- Links to physical activity opportunities in your local community
You can be referred onto the service by a health professional such as your GP or nurse if your body mass index is 35 or above and you are above 18 years of age. You will initially have a one-to-one assessment with a health trainer who will discuss in detail with you what you want to achieve and plan your next steps.
