The Whalton Unit
There are 30 beds situated in the Whalton Unit which is in the grounds of the former Morpeth Cottage Hospital, with care focused on elderly rehabilitation and palliative care.

The Whalton Unit is situated, off the A1, on the approach road into the town of Morpeth.
From the A1 South: Take the first exit for Morpeth, continue along A197 for 1.5 miles with the hospital on your right.
From the A1 North: Take the first exit for Morpeth continue along A192. Turn left at roundabout, continue along the A192. Turn right at roundabout, continue along the A192, Turn right at roundabout continue for 0.5 miles with the unit on your left.

The Whalton Unit is a 10 – 15 minute walk from Morpeth railway station. Check The Trainline for timetables of all services.
Car parking is available and costs £1.20p per hour, up to a maximum of £4 per day.
As it is pay and display, please make sure that you bring change with you and leave plenty of time to find a space.
There are free lay-bys for pick-ups or drops offs (maximum stay 20 minutes).
There are designated free parking bays reserved for disabled drivers displaying a valid blue badge permit.
Concessionary car parking
We offer free car parking under certain circumstances for patients or their visitors. This includes those patients attending regularly over an extended period, visitors of long-stay patients and those who are staying in the hospital with patients. This list is not exhaustive and exemptions are issued by the ward or department manager – please speak to them if you think you may qualify.
Car parking violations
Please note that failure to park in a designated bay or failure to pay for parking may result in you being issued with a civil penalty or infringement notice.
The Whalton Unit consists of single rooms with en-suite facilities and bedside televisions at no charge. There is also a communal dining room and day room for patients as well as a quiet room for visitors with tea and coffee making facilities.
Free Wi-Fi is available in public areas of this hospital – just choose NHS Wi-Fi on your smart device and follow the registration process to gain access.
A hairdresser attends the ward regularly.
