Northumbria launches sexual health app

Residents in Northumberland and North Tyneside are set to benefit from a new range of resources to support their sexual health.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, which delivers free and confidential sexual health services, is launching a new app this month full of useful information about sexual health and the integrated services available.

The interactive app is free to download and delivers high quality and reliable sexual health information and advice.  It has been developed with input from clinicians and service users and includes centralised booking and where to find clinics, where to get free condoms, online symptom checker and advice about testing and support.

Northumbria Healthcare delivers free and confidential sexual health services across Northumberland and North Tyneside. Services include confidential sexual health advice, contraception and sexually transmitted infection screening.

Dr Helen McIlveen clinical lead for the sexual health service at Northumbria Healthcare, said “The app is a fantastic tool. We have developed this app so that our service users can access information, advice and support at a touch of a screen.

“The app is easy to understand and it’s for all ages. It has information at your fingertips about our One to One clinics available and it offers guidance and support for any questions you may have. Users can also email questions using this app direct to the service to get the advice they need from an experienced and qualified sexual health practitioner.”

The app and its resources will be promoted at the local sexual health One to One centres and is available to download free of charge.

Updated regularly, the app ensures users have access to the most up-to date information, advice and support.
