NHS Wi-Fi launches at Northumbria Healthcare

Free public Wi-Fi is now available to patients and visitors at Northumbria Healthcare, across its main hospital sites and in some community venues.

Wi-Fi is now available at 17 sites across the trust and means that visitors will be able to access the internet and use their apps while in hospital. It is free to use and doesn’t require any information beyond your name and email address.

In order to access the network patients just need to choose ‘NHS Wi-Fi’ on their smart device and follow the simple registration process.

The following venues will have coverage in all areas:

  • North Tyneside General Hospital
  • Wansbeck General Hospital
  • Hexham General Hospital
  • The Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital
  • Monkseaton Clinic
  • Victoria Therapy Unit
  • Nursery Park, Ashington
  • Meadowell Health Centre
  • Albion Road
  • Morpeth One to One Centre
  • Chibburn Court
  • Sea Lodge

The following will have coverage in public locations:

  • Alnwick Infirmary
  • Berwick Infirmary
  • Blyth Community Hospital
  • Haltwhistle
  • Whalton Unit

Kevin Dickinson, Head of IT at Northumbria Healthcare said: “We’re really excited to be able to bring free Wi-Fi to patients and visitors at Northumbria Healthcare.

“Being in hospital can sometimes feel isolating. So this service will be of great benefit to patients, allowing them to keep in touch with friends and family throughout their stay; something which makes us all feel better.”
