    • Promoting healthy eating in schools

A healthy school or college promotes the health and wellbeing of its pupils and staff through a well-planned, taught curriculum in an environment that promotes learning and healthy lifestyle choices.

We work in partnership with colleagues from school teams in councils in North Tyneside and Northumberland to support schools embarking on the local Healthy School Programme. In Northumberland we also work with further education colleges.

We provide specialist information, one to one support, training, consultancy and advice to teachers (Healthy School Co-ordinators and senior managers) and other health promoters on all aspects of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) curriculum. This includes advice on developing the curriculum, policy writing, classroom practice, improving the school or college environment and other wider aspects of being a health promoting school or college.

Some of our training on PSHE also counts towards meeting the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) needs of teachers and other school or college staff.
