Dietitian does first ever half marathon
Anita Attala who has worked for the trust for over 22 years works in the diabetes and bariatric surgery so knows first- hand what the potential devastating consequences of unhealthy lifestyles and ill health. She runs regularly in competitions and this will be her first time doing the half marathon at Kielder
She entered a couple of years ago but unfortunately had to pull out due to injury so she’s more determined than ever to rise to the challenge at Britain’s most beautiful course.
She says: This year I wanted to try events I’ve never done before. She completed her first triathlon in August 2018 and I’m looking forward to tackling the rural terrain at Kielder. My training has been going well. I run 4 times a week, and do swimming and pilates once a week but the biggest challenge is fitting in with work and family.
I’m part of a running club and I get up really early to run which helps plus you get to see the most amazing sunrises.”
Anita recommends setting personal and realistic targets such as taking part in challenges no matter how small or big, as it really helps to keep you motivated. She also suggests giving yourself plenty of time to train so you can build it up slowly and more importantly enjoy it!
