Wark charity lunch raises £4,200 for urology, Hexham General Hospital

A charity lunch, held by the Wark Charity Committee, has raised an impressive £4,200 for our urology unit at Hexham General Hospital.

Susan Godfrey, specialist nurse in urology at the trust, said: “We’re delighted to accept this cheque and are really touched that the Wark community have donated this tremendous amount of money to the urology unit. We pride ourselves in providing the highest quality care to our patients and it means so much when people who have benefited from our service do something like this.

“Prostate cancer affects the lives of so many people in Tynedale and the money will go towards improving the experience of patients using our service at what is a distressing time for them and their families.”

The annual Wark Charity Lunch has raised almost almost £60,000 over the past 13 years, with the emphasis on the money being used in the North East. The lunch and has now become a permanent fixture in many social diaries.

This donation is through Northumbria Healthcare’s Bright Charity which works hard to provide additional extras that are not usually be funded by the NHS but they ensure patients have the best experience possible during their stay in hospital.
