Today was operating day
Today was operating day and the list included two laparoscopic cholecystectomies and a diagnostic laparoscopy. The residents and course attendees watched the procedures, both in the operating theatre and via the spangly new video link from the theatre to the boardroom. Dr Kondo and Dr Msuya completed the operations under the watchful eye of Liam, without any complication. The national press and TV cameras were present to watch the masters at work. At the same time Derek and Nick taught chest and abdominal trauma on the ATLS course at the medical school to a group of 5th years.
In the afternoon the boys taught the students practical procedures, while the operations continued on.
We were finally able to get some of the information from the burns patients. Yaba from the international office was able to interpret for the five patients who answered their phone and we were glad to hear their constructive feedback.
Then for dinner tonight we had another slap up meal at El Rancho for the end of course party. Roughly 25 delegates attended and were individually handed their certificates from our now national superstars Dr Kondo and Dr Liam.
