Staff from local company help with new hospital garden
A warm thank you to Tony Peirs and colleagues from Cofely GDF Suez, who work in partnership with North Tyneside Council, for their help with a new garden at North Tyneside General Hospital.
Tony and his colleagues held a dress down day during the summer, raising over £130. They wanted to support their local hospital and were keen to do something for elderly patients.
Tony offered to help after hearing how our Bright charity has recently funded the refurbishment of a day room on ward 3 to create a traditional living room environment and a new garden – providing a more familiar and homely environment for our elderly patients.
With the money raised from the dress down day he bought plants and flowers and then spent an afternoon in the garden planting them.
Ward sister, Deborah Stannard said “the new plants and flowers have really brightened up the new garden – they will bring much pleasure to our patients and our sincere thanks go to Tony and his colleagues at Cofely.”
