The Link was established by Dr Arun Kumar Gupta to develop training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) at King George Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow, India. Dr Gupta delivers a workshop in CBT at the University regularly, on an annual basis. The workshop is attended by faculty and students of psychiatry, clinical psychology and psychiatric nursing. Since the link began, over 150 people have received this training.

Many of these also remain in contact with Dr Gupta and contact him by telephone, email or Skype for supervision. The link has also resulted in two posters being presented at the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy annual conference, an oral paper being presented at the World Congress of Psychiatry and two papers have been published in peer review journals, the ‘Indian Journal of Social Psychiatry’ and ‘International Psychiatrist’. Dr Gupta’s work is on-going and the Link has already made long-lasting differences with seven faculty members of KGMU attending almost all annual workshops and now treating patients in CBT and supervising new trainees in this area of work.
