No challenge high enough for Bright fundraisers

A very, very big well done to staff Peter Smith, Claire Finn and Tracy Milburn who have raised over £9,000 for Bright International to support the trust’s charity projects in Tanzania.             To raise the funds the team set themselves no easy challenge. After learning so much about the trust’s link with Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre (KCMC) and the issues faced by the patients and staff in the hospital, they decided to take on Mount Kilimanjaro to give their support. For Peter Smith, who has been involved in Northumbria’s Tanzania International Health Partnership now for many years and has seen first-hand the difference that project work makes to the people there; the challenge was something he has always wanted to do.

The team undertook the challenge in October 2015, climbing just under 6,000 meters over seven days to take on the world’s tallest freestanding mountain. Although the team had an incredible experience it was extremely challenging and tough. They faced extreme weather conditions, difficult altitudes and walked for hours each day.

The team would like to thank everyone who sponsored them but most importantly, we’d like to thank them for undertaking this phenomenal challenge –thank you!
