New software for speech and language service
Bright Charity has funded the purchase of five laptops pre-loaded with software which enables the speech and language service to deliver therapy at home for people with aphasia.
This software enables people to practice speaking, spelling and understanding of words and sentences and can be tailored to suit each individual’s needs and ability. It also allows people to use the software at home so they don’t always need to come to the service to see a therapist.
The laptops have been in constant use since they were purchased and the feedback has been very positive so far.Patients Andy Earl and Maureen McCormick have been using the software provided by the service. Andy has been so impressed with it he has decided to purchase a licence for himself. Andy said: “It has really helped with my recovery. It is easily accessible on the laptop and I can use it at home and work so it fits in with my busy lifestyle.”
