Hexham friends raise money for oncology day unit

Our sincere thanks go to a group of friends who have raised funds for the oncology day unit at Hexham hospital.
Helen Harpham, Vanessa Saunders and Danielle Webster raised a fantastic £1,700 through activities including an online auction. The friends started their fundraising back in 2009 with a ball at Langley Castle which raised over £2,500 for the unit.
The money will be used by the oncology day unit to enhance patient care and provide the extras which make a real difference.
Thanks to generous donations such as this one, the unit offers electric reclining chairs, a large screen television in the treatment area and smaller televisions in single rooms.
It also has a library and an ipod with docking station to provide music for patients, while a complimentary therapist visits twice weekly to help patients overcome stress and anxiety.
