Good luck to Bright Northumbria runners
A charity which provides the extras that make a difference to patients in Northumberland and North Tyneside are set to benefit from Sunday’s Great North Run.
Bright Northumbria, the charity which supports the hospital and community health facilities delivered by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, will be represented.
Around 50 Bright runners will join thousands of others taking part in the world’s largest half marathon.
This is the fifth year Bright has been represented in the Great North Run and it continues to provide a real boost to the charity, with thousands of pounds being raised since 2012.
Bright runners are running on behalf of either Northumbria Healthcare’s trust-wide charity initiatives or a specific ward/area of their choice.
The generous support from fundraisers enables the charity to fund many valuable initiatives each year which improve patients’ experiences. These include new specialist equipment, toys for children in hospital, relaxing outdoor garden spaces, and social activities for patients and more.
Staff from Bright will be there on the day supporting the runners and will be welcoming them and their supporters to join them after the race in the bronze section of the charity village.
Brenda Longstaff, charity & volunteer senior lead officer at Northumbria Healthcare added: “We’d like to wish all of our runners participating in the Great North Run the best of luck, and we hope to see you at the finish line in South Shields. The money they will raise makes a real difference to our patients”
