For National Careers Week, Taylor talks about her role and what she loves about being on team Northumbria
Hello my name is Taylor, I am currently acting up as a HR advisor in the HR recruitment & selection Team. My job role involves managing the recruitment & selection team on a day-to-day basis, providing advice and support to managers, employees and candidates on all aspects of the recruitment & selection processes and policies. I provide direction and support in the delivery of an effective service within the human resources department.
I have been working in the Trust now for eight years. I first started my career by undertaking a business admin apprenticeship in the learning and development team. After completing my apprenticeship, I secured a permanent position in the recruitment & selection team and since then I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles within the team to further my skills and knowledge within HR services.
I feel it’s really important to celebrate National Careers Week to enable us to be able to promote some of the fantastic opportunities that the Trust has to offer, including a range of apprenticeships, various courses and qualifications, and to explore the different job roles and possible career routes that are available.
When I began my apprenticeship I wasn’t sure where I wanted to be career wise. But working around such knowledgeable and helpful people quickly helped me to identify my strengths, realising that I wanted to pursue a future in HR helping others. I hope that National Careers Week encourages others to reflect on their own strengths, to find the right path for their future too, however challenging that might be.
I really enjoy working with other managers, employees and candidates from a range of different backgrounds and professions, providing advice and support on all aspects of the recruitment & selection process. I am able to really put into practice the experience and knowledge I have gained over the last seven years of working in that team. I love being a part of such a fantastic, supportive and friendly team – the whole team has really pulled together during these challenging times ensuring our tight recruitment deadlines are met to support our staff across the Trust.
Covid has resulted in a higher volume of recruitment and it has been challenging but also very rewarding knowing that my role is helping to support front line staff and departments that are under pressure due to the pandemic, ensuring we are recruiting staff as efficiently and effectively as possible.
