Each year, our charity invests almost £1 million into patient care

Each year, the charity supports a range of initiatives – large and small – and invests almost £1 million into patient care. One of the ways funds are distributed is through charity development groups (CDGs) which operate at our general hospitals and other sites when sufficient funds are available.

Funds available through site CDGs come from general hospital donations (for example, a donation to a hospital rather than to a specific ward or area) legacies from private individuals and also the profits raised through our volunteer-run HVS cafes and shops, which are located at our acute hospital sites.

CDGs provide a fair and democratic forum for all staff to apply for charitable funds, regardless of their operational area. They also ensure that funds are used where they are needed most.

Regular meetings are held where staff are able to bid for the extras that can make a real difference to their patients. Staff can find information about the application process on the intranet.
