Day 5 – Donations arrive

Mr Liam Horgan and Dr Kondo were invited by Moshi FM to discuss the Laparoscopic project and upcoming course; however, a fierce storm the night before had damaged the power cable, leaving the radio station without any power.  After a brief discussion about the plans for the broadcast the two were invited back to give the interview on Saturday morning.

The consignment finally arrived at KCMC, after being collected from Northumbria house on February 16th.  An administrative error meant the paperwork had been sent to Dar Es Salaam instead of Arusha, instead of a simple 2-hour drive to collect the permit a member of KCMC’s procurement team was required to travel 600km through the mountains to reach Dar.

After unpacking and checking all 15 boxes, we let out a sign of relief as the laparoscopic stack, and fetal monitors had arrived unharmed.  Thank you Universal Forwarding!

Dr Kondo was thrilled with the donation, and revealed the new equipment would mean a great step forward for the future of laparoscopic surgery at KCMC.
