Cumbria Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust and LAMB Integrated Rural Health and Development, Bangladesh
LAMB is a charitable organisation that has been working in health and development in Northwest Bangladesh since the mid-1970s with the main focus being to serve the poor. Several members of staff from Trusts across the region have volunteered to work in LAMB Hospital. For example, Vikki-Ford Powell an Occupational Therapist in Cumbria Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust, is significantly involved in the link with LAMB hospital, having lived and worked with a national team in the rehabilitation unit there for 8 years. Although Vikki has now returned to live in Cumbria, she continues to support LAMB from the UK and goes out to visit them, sharing OT practise experience.
LAMB provides a range of healthcare services, including rehabilitation, maternity, gynaecology, surgery, medicine, paediatrics, research and training. Amongst other specialist treatments, LAMB partnered with Walk for Life to become the pilot site for a national Ponseti programme to treat all children in Bangladesh born with clubfoot.
