Colourful help for dementia patients

Brightly coloured cups have been introduced onto wards at North Tyneside General Hospital to make it easier for patients with memory difficulties to drink.

Research has shown that patients with dementia can often suffer from confusion and perception difficulties and can struggle to see a cup, which in turn can lead to them not having enough to drink. The new cups look and feel like the cups that patients would use at home, to encourage them to drink more to keep hydrated.
