Ashington Veterans & Elders Institute make garden flowers to raise funds
Members of the Ashington Veterans & Elders Institute have been making special decorative wooden flowers during lockdown to support the NHS.
The flowers come in a range of different colours and cost between £10 and £12 depending on the colour. All of the profits raised are going to the palliative care unit at Wansbeck General Hospital.
The flowers came about after Keith Green, Secretary at the Institute started experimenting with wooden pallets to create colourful flowers for his garden. After proving popular further members of the committee and garden club got involved and decided to fundraise for their local NHS during lockdown.
To date, they have sold over 300 and raised an amazing £1,500 for the palliative care unit.
Our warmest thanks go to Keith and everyone at the Ashington & Elders Institute for their support.
