Better health at work award for Northumbria Healthcare
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has been rewarded for its efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of its staff across Northumberland and North Tyneside.
The trust, which has 9,000 employees who work in hospitals and the community, was recognised with a bronze Better Health at Work Award.
Better Health at Work is a regional award scheme which recognises workplaces that motivate workers in developing and embedding a sustainable culture of health and wellbeing.
Northumbria Healthcare runs a number of initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of its staff including healthy lifestyle and fitness classes, a pedometer challenge, work-life balance support and weight management groups. The trust, which is now working towards the silver award, also makes healthy options available in its restaurants.
Ann Stringer, director of human resources and organisational development at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Within our trust, we pride ourselves on exceptional patient care and recognise that our staff are our most important asset in how this care is delivered.
“We are passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of our staff and are delighted to be recognised in this way.
“We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to our initiatives as we begin to work towards a silver award.”
