Ashington podiatry clinics on the move

Clinics for people with foot problems who require NHS podiatry treatment in Ashington are changing this week to give patients more choice of appointments.

From Friday 29 January all Northumbria Healthcare podiatry clinics at Laburnum Surgery and Seaton Park Primary Care Centre will relocate to Nursery Park Health Centre, Nursery Park, Ashington, NE63 0HP.  Clinics will be available Monday to Friday for all patients from Laburnum, Seaton Park and Lintonville practices.

Some clinics at Lintonville Medical Group will continue three days a week and will be available to patients from Lintonville and Laburnum practices only.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides podiatry clinics in over 60 venues in Northumberland and North Tyneside including GP surgeries, hospitals and day centres, and in people’s homes.

Helen Smart, head of podiatry at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “This is great news for our patients as it provides more choice of times and days that they can access NHS podiatry clinics.

“We spoke to patients and GP practices at the earliest opportunity about our plans to move and we will ensure patients experience minimum disruption while we move. We look forward to welcoming our patients to Nursery Park Health Centre.”

There will also be a new appointment line for all Ashington podiatry appointments/referrals from 29 January 2016. This will be 01670 859 049.

As part of the changes the Trust will also be moving district nursing treatment rooms from Seaton Park to Nursery Park Health Centre. Appointments for these clinics will be accessed using the same number as above.

There will be no clinics on Thursday 28 January 2016 to allow services to move. Please note that the Newbiggin branch of Seaton Park GP Practice will not be affected by the move.

At the Nursery Park Health Centre patients will have access to tissue viability nurses, a specialist service providing wound care. Other services also available at the centre include health visiting, bereavement and end of life care services.
