Art proposals for Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital unveiled
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is inviting the public to a preview of artwork for the new Specialist Emergency Care Hospital.
The Art Open Event, to be held at Azure Garden Centre, Cramlington will provide an opportunity for the public to listen to artists and see their design proposals for artwork for the new hospital. The Trust is hosting the event on Thursday 5 June 2014 from 4pm until 6pm.
Four artists will display and talk through their designs that they hope will be on display in or outside the new Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital when it opens in June 2015.
This event is a great opportunity for people to meet the artists who are hoping to be selected to create internal and external sculptures for the new hospital.
Arts programme lead Brenda Longstaff said: “The trust places high importance on providing the best environment for our patients, visitors and staff. We are very excited about the possibility of working with such highly regarded professional artists and it is so important that the public are involved. Over the next few months we hope to work on projects with local artists and local communities so that they are also part of the new hospital. “
Northumbria’s award-winning healing arts programme is supported by public donations to the Bright Charity.
Azure Garden Centre is one of the main businesses that support Azure Charitable Enterprises who provide employment and support for people with disabilities. Café Azure found within the garden centre is an attractive building that has been designed with the customer and environment in mind.
The arts steering group for the new hospital are interested in hearing your views before the artists are selected. The Azure garden centre will be open for shopping throughout the event so people are able to browse.
Please come along for a cuppa in Café Azure and learn more about our plans for the hospital environment, we are keen to hear what you think.
